We only had a day to explore the area that we were not able to see the caves but to give you an idea, here are some of the prominent caves found in the park. Out of the hundred caves found in the park, only 50 are open to the public and tourist guides said it would take 4 full days + one overnight stay to visit all 50 caves. Its basically cave network that served as a military base camp that played a very vital role in shaping our country's history ![]() News of Aguinaldo's arrival at Biak-na-Bato reached the towns of Central Luzon which encouraged armed men from neighboring provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales,Ilocos, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija to renew and step up their armed resistance against the colonizers.īiac na Bato is a 2,100 hectare national park that offers various ecological attractions including winding streams, waterfalls, thick forests and hundreds of caves which made it a suitable hideout for General Emilio Aguinaldo and other revolutionary fighters during the Spanish War. The group went on to evade capture and trek their way through the mountain ranges of Sierra Madre to reach Biac na Bato, San Miguel Bulacan where they establised their headquarters. It was in the year 1897 when around 500 revolutionaries led by the General Emilio Aguinaldo slipped-pass through a military cordone at Talisay, Batangas that aimed to capture the revolutionary leader. The place takes you back to the time our revolutionary forces took arms against their abusive colonizers for our freedom and independence. It was a great place to reflect, to reconnect with the past, knowing that the place had been instrumental to our identity as a nation. I was not able to take some good photos as I was carrying my one yearold daughter most of the time during the trek but will be posting some of the few ones I took. We had a good picnic by the stream as the kids enjoyed swimming in the cold waters. It took us a 3 hour drive from Metro Manila to get to the place and had to trek few meters of trail to reach some of the beautiful places in the area. Its a perfect retreat from the daily grind of metropolis. We had a great time, I thought i had to share it here.
